The original portrait (above) may look okay to some people. But the image has lens distortion, bad colour, too much contrast, a dark face, and dull, unremarkable eyes.
Retouching makes the business portrait noticeably better. But retouching did not change the person’s likeness. Only technical issues, all caused by the photographer, were corrected. A corrected photo always makes the subject look better.
There’s no reason to settle for a subpar portrait of yourself when retouching can correct most technical issues.
Portraits Must Enhance Your Message

This portrait may be acceptable to some people, but the picture suffers from poor lighting technique. The eyes and eye sockets are dark, the hair casts a noticeable shadow on the forehead, and there’s an out-of-place shadow on the camera-left shoulder. Also, the camera-right jacket collar is pushed up and the shirt is messy.
Retouching corrected all the technical issues. Plus, a highlight was added behind the person to add separation between the subject and background. This separation adds depth to the image and ensures it will print properly.
Online, your photos often speak before you do. Before a word is read, people have already formed an opinion based on your images. Professional retouching ensures that your photos say exactly what you want: competent, polished, and trustworthy.
