You’ve heard the saying, “You only get one chance to make a first impression.”
If your business portrait or other marketing images have technical flaws, they’re holding you back and costing you potential value.

Take the business portrait above, for example. The photographer used a lens that was too wide, causing noticeable distortion. The subject’s hand looks huge, seemingly larger than his head. He looks like he’s leaning backward, and the bookshelf isn’t square.
Retouching reduced the size of the hand, and slightly narrowed the front shoulder and arm. The subject’s pose was straightened. Retouching also corrected the bookshelf distortion, straightened a few books, reduced the glare on the bookshelf, brightened the eyes, evened the skin tone and colour, removed some clothing wrinkles, and evened the colour and tone of the wall.
All of these flaws, except the crooked books, were caused by lens choice, camera angle, lighting, and the selected pose. These are all technical issues caused by the photography. The photographer should have addressed all of these before taking the photo.
When a photographer overlooks or neglects technical issues, professional retouching can often correct those problems and rescue the image. You should never feel stuck using a subpar photo to represent yourself or your business.
A strong first impression starts with a technically sound portrait.
